Try These Restaurants near Bloomfield NJ

If you’re stomach’s growling, you’ve got to try one of these restaurants near Bloomfield, NJ. There are so many delicious restaurant options in our area, but these are some of our favorites.

Give them a taste and see how you like them!

Cloverleaf Tavern

Irish Pubs in Bloomfield NJWhen it comes to pub food and drinks, nothing beats Cloverleaf Tavern. Founded in 1933 by George Dorchek Jr., it is the oldest restaurant in town. Throughout the years, the tavern has made a name for itself as the go-to bar in the area thanks to its warm, friendly atmosphere. Today, however, it’s known as more than just a bar.

Located right on Bloomfield Avenue, the Cloverleaf Tavern today is also a family-friendly restaurant serving up the best American cuisine and classic pub fares in the area. Stop by this local staple and dig into their famous, perfectly cooked burgers complete with hand-cut seasoned potato chips or fries. Feeling a little more surf than turf? Go with one of our favorites—the Fish & Chips!

The Cloverleaf Tavern has changed quite a bit since it first opened its doors, but it’s still one of the best bars in the area. With 24 beers on tap and over 65 bottled brews, it’s easy to see why this iconic eatery was named the #1 Craft Beer Bar in the Northeast for two consecutive years.

Mesob

Mesob is our first choice for authentic Ethiopian cuisine. They make all their food using fresh ingredients seasoned with spices imported directly from Ethiopia. They also import their coffee beans from Ethiopia and roast them fresh on-site.

Mesob is named for the traditional Ethiopian tables where families dine. These wicker tables have decorative dome-like covers and line the front windows of the restaurant. You can choose to enjoy your meal at a Mesob or at one of their regular tables.

Their menu is extensive and includes a variety of vegan options, as well as omnivorous fare. One of our favorite dishes is the Dinich Wet, which simmers potatoes in a tasty spicy sauce. This is served on Injera (traditional Ethiopian bread), or on rice by request.

MishMish

Mediterranean foodMishMish serves up healthy Mediterranean cuisine made with seasonal and locally sourced food. You’re sure to feel right at home with their friendly service, while enjoying the modern design of their décor that feels especially high-end and trendy.

They’re open for lunch and dinner and also welcome online orders for diners who want to take their dish to go. They accommodate all kinds of dietary needs, with vegetarian and vegan options and the ability to make most dishes gluten-free upon request.

We highly recommend the Sabich sandwich. This serves smoked eggplant spread, feta cheese, tahini sauce, a boiled egg, tomatoes, Zaatar, and lettuce in a pita. We also love their Dang, I Woke Up Late! menu for a brunchy fare, like their Israeli Breakfast platter.

Spanish Tavern

The Spanish Tavern is a restaurant that really knows how to do fine dining. With a beautiful dining area, it’s a great place for good times and good company. However, like all the best restaurants near Bloomfield, the area where the Spanish Tavern really shines is their menu.

Since 1932, the Spanish Tavern has been showcasing Spanish culture to the area in the best way possible—through authentic food and perfectly paired authentic wines. For a true taste of Spain, you’ll be sure to enjoy the Paella Marinara. With fresh lobster, shrimp, clams, scallops, and mussels cooked with saffron rice, it’s a dish that can transport your taste buds right to Barcelona.

If you want to add a little meat to your paella, try the Paella Valenciana with fresh seafood as well as Spanish sausage and chicken.

Plus, we recommend you save a bit of room for dessert. From the Flan de Leche to the Crema Catalana de Café (Coffee Crème Brulee), the Spanish Tavern’s homemade desserts are the perfect ending to your meal and fine dining experience.

SuzyQue’s BBQ & Bar

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que

Craving mouthwatering barbeque and fall-off-the-bone meats? SuzyQue’s BBQ & Bar near Bloomfield is the place. Sitting right in West Orange, this barbeque destination brings the flavors of Memphis, St. Louis, Texas, and North Carolina right to the Garden State for the smokiest and most delicious barbeque experience.

If you’re feeling ribs, choose from a baby back or St. Louis style rack. If you’re in the mood for brisket, the Texas Style Beef Brisket can be a slice of marbled, juicy heaven.

But no matter which dish you end up ordering, SuzyQue’s will make each one with care for the best flavors. Whether you choose the ribs, brisket, or chicken, each entrée is made with premium meats and are dry-rubbed with the restaurant’s own unique blend of spices. From there, they’re slow-cooked to perfection in their state-of-the-art slow cooker.

Once it’s fall-off-the-bone ready, you can dig right in. If you want a kick of extra flavor, make sure you add a bit of sauce on the side. We love the Molasses, Tomato, and Vinegar sauces for a classic taste or you can turn the heat up with the Orange Habanero sauce.

Star Tavern

“The Star,” as it’s known in the neighborhood, has been owned and operated by a member of the Vayianos family since 1980. However, Star Tavern has been a community staple for more than 65 years, and you can feel its strong ties in the lively and familial atmosphere.

They serve their thin crust pizza hot, topped with perfectly melted cheese on a crust with just the right amount of crunch. Their pizzas can be as traditional as a regular cheese, as creative as their White Spinach pie, or as sweet as their Apple Pie pizza.

In addition to pizza, they also serve up specials and entrees like their Pasta Marinara, Broccoli and Cavatelli, and their Roast Beef au jus sandwich. Don’t forget to order a draft beer or soft drink at their well-stocked bar.
