Greenwood Gardens

This 28-acre garden was once the Blanchard family’s private estate, until they decided to transform the property into a public space in 2003. Situated on the western edge of the Watchung Mountains, Greenwood Gardens is a contemporary historic site and garden, with the former estate based in Arts & Crafts design.

Take a self-guided tour of the Gardens. Included with admission and free for members, as well as children under 12, this is a great way to explore the grounds at your leisure. You can also reserve a group tour for parties of 10 or more. Here, tour guides will discuss the history, landscape, and architecture of Greenwood Gardens.

Montclair Art Museum

Come see what’s on view in the George Inness Gallery. Filled with 18 paintings and two watercolors by renowned artist George Inness, these works are as inspiring as they are beautiful. Often Heralded as America’s foremost landscape artist, Inness frequently gained inspiration from the splendor of Montclair, where he resided from 1885 to 1894.

If the art museum’s exhibits have you feeling energized to create, why not participate in any of their several art programs? With classes for all ages across many mediums, including digital drawing, wheel throwing, and alternative marbling, your next masterpiece is just a session away!

Outpost in the Burbs

Outpost in the BurbsGreat music and even greater experiences await you at Outpost in the Burbs!

This non-profit outreach organization is dedicated to building up our neighborhoods through music, cultural programs, and community service. Outpost in the Burbs has produced over 500 concerts since its founding in 1987, hosting renowned folk stars such as Judy Collins and Roger McGinn, just to name a couple.

While the performances held here are pretty awesome, Outpost in the Burbs goes far beyond music, offering several volunteer and community service opportunities year-round. Feel good and help those in need by working in their soup kitchen, where a hot meal and bagged lunch are served to around 100 people every Saturday.
